We are pleased to announce the date of the next Knights of the Altar promotion! On Sunday 4 May 2025, at the parish’s 7:00 pm Mass, one of our current Knights of the Altar will be promoted to the rank of Knight Commander and then to the rank of Master Knight. As this is the first time we are introducing these two ranks and we have a Knight who is qualified to be a Master Knight, we will conduct this one-time only dual promotion as this Knight of the Altar has demonstrated expertise at serving at the Altar. In the future, all promotions will be done on Christ the King Sunday with each Knight eligible to advance one rank per year with most Altar Servers in the ranks of Recruit, Apprentice, and Knight, and up to six [6] Knight Commanders and up to three [3] Master Knights serving at any given time.
To become a
KNIGHT COMMANDER, a Knight is to have shown exceptional dedication and competence in the performance of their duties including punctuality, personal neatness, generosity in serving Masses on special occasions, and perform details and rubrics with ease and devotion. One of a Knight Commander’s duties will be to train Recruits.
To become a
MASTER KNIGHT, the highest rank,
a Knight Commander is to have performed service with devotion, attention, and perfection; and to have performed rubrics with ease, precision, and devotion. Some of the Master Knight’s duties include: to be called on for any service at any time, to be willing to volunteer services where needed without being told or assigned, to be willing to give the extra time and attention to fulfill those responsibilities even at the sacrifice of personal interests, and to be willing to train all levels of serving with the approval by the Knights of the Altar Director.
Please stay tuned from an updated handbook to be published describing these new ranks.
