Theology for Beginners invites you to explore deeper theological insights through weekly readings from classic works and engaging group discussions. Each session includes an overview, practical reflections for daily life, and opportunities for fellowship in a warm, welcoming environment. Join us to grow in faith and understanding together!
What are some of the works we will explore?
Here is a list of just some of the books we will reflect on and discuss (in no particular order):
We will also explore selected homilies of many notable and influential people. Given the nature of this group, we will have a variety of presenters from week to week!
Thursday Evenings
6:30-8:00 pm
Is this a week-by-week, chapter-by-chapter book study?
Not at all! Each week, we’ll explore selected readings, discuss their background, impact, and application, and reflect on key insights together. While participants are welcome to read the full works, it’s not required—this journey is about growing in faith and understanding, one step at a time.
Are participants required to purchase any books?
No, purchasing books is optional but encouraged for deeper engagement.
Who is this for?
This group is open to anyone—of any age—seeking to explore the deeper aspects of the Christian faith. We’ll engage in casual discussions on theology, reflect on its practical applications, and grow together in community and faith. While a Catholic worldview frames our conversations, all are welcome in this respectful and prayerful space.
When and where do we meet?
We will begin meeting every Thursday night, from 6:30PM – 8:00PM beginning Thursday, January 23, 2025. We will meet at the Immaculate Conception Center (1212 Morningside Avenue, Sioux City, IA 51106). Ordinarily we will meet in the parish center.
